A History of Sparkle
Gemstones connect ancient traditions with modern design.
Jewelry through time
Jewelry has served as adornment, a symbol of belonging and a marker of milestones for thousands of years. Rings, pendants and bracelets have evolved across cultures rather than following a single origin story.
The discovery of moissanite
Henri Moissan examined material from Arizona’s Canyon Diablo meteorite crater in 1893. The silicon carbide mineral was later named moissanite in his honor. Laboratory growth made the once-rare mineral accessible for jewelry.
Enduring styles
Solitaire settings emphasize a central gemstone; halo designs surround it with smaller stones; eternity bands repeat stones around the band. Contemporary jewelry draws on these traditions while exploring new proportions and materials. This gemstone history is distinct from the history of our business.
